CDF Ogolla and IG Koome call for collaborative approach in North Rift to achieve lasting peace

The Chief of Defence Forces today urged security officers deployed to serve in Operation Maliza Uhalifu in the North Rift Counties to cooperate with members of the local community to achieve lasting peace in the area.

The Chief of Defence Forces today urged security officers deployed to serve in Operation Maliza Uhalifu in the North Rift Counties to cooperate with members of the local community to achieve lasting peace in the area. The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Francis Ogola, accompanied by the Inspector General of Police (IG), Japheth Koome, toured the North Rift region to assess the ongoing security operation.

In a statement released by the Kenya Defence Force, the CDF and the IG, who toured the Multi-Agency Command Center and Kalowa Primary School in Tiaty, Baringo County, stressed mutual cooperation between the security officers and the community. They said the two officials were briefed on the current status and progress made by Multi-Agency security forces involved in the security operation dubbed Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) that continues to pacify the troubled Counties of the North Rift Region.

According to the statement, the Chief of Defence force commended the security officers for their dedication to restoring calm. He acknowledged that various projects were undertaken in the North Rift to enhance the restoration of peace and stability. “We are fully dedicated to this operation; our objective remains the same, and we are using the Multi-Agency framework. Let’s continue to engage the local administration and the community at large,” said the CDF.

The security heads also inspected an ongoing renovation at Kolowa Primary School. According to the Kenya Defence Force, the school was among twenty schools affected by banditry and were all undergoing renovations.

On his part, IG Koome also emphasized the crucial role of the multi-Agency approach. In a statement posted by the National Police Service, the IG lauded the collaborative efforts between the Police and the Kenya Defence Force to the security situation in the region.
